Debbie:

Don't know what you do for your preop diet, but we had these protein supplements that included bars, soups, chili and spaghetti along with protein drinks. They weren't bad (especially the bars). The hardest thing for me was giving up caffeine ... yow! I was a ***** that first week (had to do this for two weeks, and I was getting up at 3 a.m. for work at the time). But I did it, and never complained (well, just about the caffeine). Everybody at work knew what was going on, so they tried to stay out of my way and really encouraged me. The first week, I cleaned out my pantry and brought all the snack foods I had in and gave it to people at work, so I wouldn't be tempted; then I cleaned out my freezer and fridge and brought that stuff. Everyone was grateful!

It's two weeks (or whatever your doctor requires) out of your life, then maybe two weeks post-op or whatever ... and the results are definitely worth it. Know you will eat real food again, just much smaller quantities. And you'll feel so much better, so much lighter and so proud of yourself in your new life.

Eileen,

Thanks so much for your helpful insight.  I have Bariactric Advantage Meal Replacement to drink 4 times a day.  I can have clear broth, SF/FF jello and two cups of certain vegetables per day.  I'm getting ready to review my information again in preparation for my big day tomorrow - lol -

I'm determined and ready!

Have a great weekend!

Margo, I guess I really AM a nut case. I can argue with myself back and forth for hours. It is never boring in my head!

no no no karen!! i simply don't wanna print here for the world what really goes on in my head!!!! then they would all know instead of simply suspecting!!!!!!

i was truly feeling all alone yesterday morning-not even george was replying from work at that point!!!!!

unfortunately; my one co worker suffered yesterday due to my ADD- some days i simply cannot stay focused at work and want to talk--and it was just sharon and i for 4 hours .....we're getting along much better but she is quiet and so i felt like i was imposing on her working -

other days i don't wanna talk to anybody!!! not even myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Wow, Darlene's dental experience sounded awful.

Today, I am starting grading the final stuff and getting their grades tallied up.  I have to turn their grades in on Monday, so I must be ready.  I'm also supposed to leave tonight to run up to my son's house and I can submit the grades from up there via the internet; however, I have a meeting set for Tuesday that cannot be cancelled.  I know my son is going to think I am putting off coming to his house and not so.

So, today grading, tabulating grades, and later going to a friend's party.  I am not really wanting to go but she sort of begged me and I said yes after having two glasses of wine.   I am happy that Janeiene won the dancing thing; although, I really wanted Evan to win.  But, it is nice to have a female winner for a change.

I'm so happy Linda is sounding optimistic.  I would hate to have all of this stress cause her neurological conditions to worsen.  Man the things our kids can do to us.

You all have a good day.

Good morning Margo & all. We are getting ready to go camping with Floyd & Brendas group. We have to take our 3 dogs so it will be interesting. I have had my grandaughters on & off for most of the summer. I love it, but I sure am tired. We are also sitting for my daughters dog. She is an 80# puppy. It's funny to watch her play with our 3. Ours are shih tzus & very small.
At the end of this month we are headed to N. Carolina to see our youngest off to the Middle East. He will be gone for 6-12 mos. Well I best finish packing. Have a great weekend!.

Hi Margo and my OFF family:

Boy, it's sure cool here ... 67 degrees in August ... although it's supposed to get really hot this weekend. I'm glad I had the guy over to look at the a/c ( and it didn't cost me anything). He added some Puron (the new version of freon) ... said I was down a pound and that wasn't good, and he wasn't sure why, because the unit wasn't damaged. I had it installed in 2007, it's still under warranty. So it'll be up and running for Saturday and Sunday when it's supposed to be hot and humid.

I have my annual gyne checkup this morning, so I'm up earlier than I want to be. It's the last of my annuals; should have had it in April, when I have all of my checkups, but the office screwed up and didn't send me a reminder to schedule it (and then when I called them on it, they said, "Well, you're supposed to ask for one." I said, "Oh, I'm supposed to do your job, too?" The woman said, "Don't get snippy." I'm going to tell my doctor about that exchange. Not very good customer service.) Of all the doctors I have, I like Dr. Cottingham the best, even though she pokes and prods the most ... she's very nice and always gives the best information and actually calls me herself with test results many times.

Susan, love your new photo!

Well, I'm also up a few pounds that I can't get rid of. Some of it is water retention but not all ... and I keep getting these hunger pangs ... and I gotta have something to eat! I try to stave them off with water, but that doesn't always work. And it's crunchy things I want (and not celery, guys!) Last night I had a protein bar and that did the trick finally (Triple Chocolate Power Crunch bar ... yum!). Don't know why I'm crave crunchy and salty things lately.

Anyway, Margo, my heart goes out to your boss' family. Tough to lose a child after a long battle with cancer. Tough to lose anyone to cancer. I know my brother Gary is dreading the day Bruce goes, but in a way, he knows it will also be better when Bruce dies, because Bruce is in so much pain right now ... he's having problems breathing again as the tumors are in his lungs. I don't know if he'll be around til Christmas.

Well, that's all for me. I have to go get dressed and off to the doctor. Have a good day.
